Pururnmi is a game I was working on from around 2006-2012. The game went through many iterations, starting out as a handful of levels for the EXPGEN Flash-based 2D platformer level editor, seeing two different ports to Game Maker 6 and eventually a version in C using the Allegro library. It was never finished, but the soundtrack (mostly) was.
This soundtrack is the premiere of the RetroCom soundchip, which is a fictional soundchip of my own design for a fictional modern 8-bit gaming computer. The soundchip features:
- One channel of additive synthesis with 32 harmonics
- One 2-bit/4-sample wavetable channel
- One square wave channel with adjustable rise/fall speed
- One channel of PWM
- One pseudorandom noise channel capable of a handful of different modes
- One DPCM channel for sample playback
Sequencing was done in Milkytracker, samples were generated using SawCutter 2.0.
